Recently we posted a link to an article called ‘Haters Gone Hate – A TL;DR retelling of my year as Mr. Clever‘ written by Lisa Roberts. The article focused on a number of elements including bullying, conventions and portraying Mr Clever.
Following on from that Lisa has written another article, this time on ‘Getting into Character‘ which can be found on Cosplay Robot.

It’s been over a year cosplaying as Mr. Clever. I’m writing this because I wanted to document all of the ups and downs I have had in 2014, because so many people have asked me to share my experiences. This whole post may ramble or seem to jump around but stay with me because there is a point to make in all this even if it takes a year to make it.
The most common question I get is “How did you get started?” I started because all of my friends were having so much fun doing it, but couldn’t for the life of me find a character I was comfortable cosplaying. I hated and trashed all the costumes I tried. But I fell in love with Matt Smith’s 11th Doctor and thought I’d give that character a whirl. I tried different variations but none of them felt right.

Occasionally here at Doctor-Who-Cosplay.com we see a cosplay that we don’t see very often or in some cases that we’ve never seen before. One such example was sent to us by Mandar with her hand made version of ‘Mr Clever’ from Nightmare in Silver.
Having seen the pictures and loving the effort that had been put into making the prosthetic, we just had to find out a bit more:
Why Mr Clever:
At the time I didn’t even know this character would have its own name. I started working on this character a week before the episode aired. I always dress up for viewing parties at a local comic book store. The week before I dressed up as a soothsayer from “fires of Pompeii” and turned my arm to stone using makeup (we’d also love to know how she made this – DWC.com).
