Haters Gone Hate – A TL;DR retelling of my year as Mr. Clever

A great Blog Post from Lisa Roberts on conventions, bullying and Mr Clever!

Communiqués from the Cyberiad

It’s been over a year cosplaying as Mr. Clever. I’m writing this because I wanted to document all of the ups and downs I have had in 2014, because so many people have asked me to share my experiences. This whole post may ramble or seem to jump around but stay with me because there is a point to make in all this even if it takes a year to make it.

The most common question I get is “How did you get started?” I started because all of my friends were having so much fun doing it, but couldn’t for the life of me find a character I was comfortable cosplaying. I hated and trashed all the costumes I tried. But I fell in love with Matt Smith’s 11th Doctor and thought I’d give that character a whirl. I tried different variations but none of them felt right.

Then I…

Cosplay Spotlight – Part 10: Rose Tyler by Variable

Recently we brought back the Cosplay Spotlight with a feature on Belle Dormante Cosplays’ portrayal of Clara Oswald. Following that we deiced we wanted to try to make the Cosplay Spotlight a more regular feature.

A while ago we posted Variable’s pin up Rose Tyler pictures on our page and at the time we decided we wanted to do a feature with her, the only problem for us (and her) was finding the time…

As you know, we like to find out a bit more about cosplayers, why do they cosplay and why they choose that particular character. At this point we’ll pass you over to Variable so she can tell you why she chose Rose and the costumes emotional first outing…

The Cosplay Spotlight – Part 7: ‘Old Girl’

Normally in the ‘Cosplay Spotlight‘ we ask 5 cosplayers to tell us why they cosplay and choose the characters that they do, but for this edition we thought we’d do something a bit different…

In this article Sam Rendell owned of the Tardis ‘Old Girl‘ tells us about why he decided to build a Tardis, yes it’s our first foray into ‘Prop-play’. Continue reading The Cosplay Spotlight – Part 7: ‘Old Girl’

‘Mr Clever’ by Mandar

Occasionally here at Doctor-Who-Cosplay.com we see a cosplay that we don’t see very often or in some cases that we’ve never seen before. One such example was sent to us by Mandar with her hand made version of ‘Mr Clever’ from Nightmare in Silver.

Mr Clever by Amanda SomsakHaving seen the pictures and loving the effort that had been put into making the prosthetic, we just had to find out a bit more:

Why Mr Clever:

At the time I didn’t even know this character would have its own name. I started working on this character a week before the episode aired. I always dress up for viewing parties at a local comic book store. The week before I dressed up as a soothsayer from “fires of Pompeii” and turned my arm to stone using makeup (we’d also love to know how she made this – DWC.com).
